Wessex Mambo comes from Mariah Hill Alpaca Stud in Australia. In 2004 Wessex Mambo was the most successful up and coming black male on the Australian show circuit. This success is mainly due to his top bloodlines such as Peruvian Hemingway, renowned for fineness and Purrumbete Highlander, one of the most influential sires in Australia’s 17 year alpaca industry.
Wessex Mambo is what all black breeders aspire to. He has excellent presence, strong bone and correct conformation. His fleece is very typical of Eringa Park Conquistador. It is very fine, dense, uniform and high in lustre. The blanket shows little medulation and has well-organised, aligned staples of medium frequency crimped fleece. With an extremely sound genetic background Wessex Mambo brings to the UK the qualities breeders of black animals have been searching for.
Mambo has many cria on the ground now including Chalford Phoebe. A junior black female, she was placed first in a large class at this year's British Alpaca Futurity.
Matching the colour of the dam in almost all cases, Mambo is capable of producing high quality offspring of a known colour. He has also produced blue black cria from our bay black females. His prize winning progeny can be seen.

Sinbad comes from the Tijera family of alpaca breeders whose herd name is Koricancha, located near Sicuani, Peru. Koricancha have been selectively breeding alpacas for three generations and, among many recent awards, won Grand Champion Huacaya at Arequipa in 2003. Sinbad comes from Koricancha's extensive plantel black herd, with both parents being solid black huacayas. He is a well grown male with strong correct bone structure and good fibre coverage. His fleece has an extremely good handle matched with excellent density and it exhibits a high frequency crimp throughout the blanket, up the neck and down the legs, good brightness and very low medulation. His first progeny have arrrived and they are matching up to our expectations - blue black in most cases with great fleece characteristics.
Chalford Petra, one of our black females and sired by Sinbad, has just won her third Black Female Championship at this years prestigious British Alpaca Futurity. Chalford Black Jack has also taken first prize in the Intermediate Black Male class. See our Shows page for details.
