Nevalea Geronimo

Date of Birth 06/02/2013

Sire: Canchones Ferragamo ET

Dam: Chelamar Gypsy Lass

Nevalea Geronimo is a very impressive Champion true black, proven herd sire. Now 4 1/2 years old he is a mature, New Zealand Certified breeding male. He has an excellent phenotype with all the traits we look for. Equally, he has an outstanding pedigree incorporating some of the most famous Australian names in black breeding. We are extremely grateful to Neville and Leonie Walker of Nevalea Alpacas for breeding him. We feel privileged to have been offered him and are absolutely thrilled to be adding him to our breeding program.

Nevalea Geronimo (True Black)

Nevalea Geronimo newly arrived at Alpaca Power aged 4 1/2 yrs of age.

Geronimo is the result of combining some of the very best black genetics the world has to offer. He has a strong black lineage on both sides of his pedigree, literally going back generations. He has all the traits we look for when selecting an alpaca to join our herd; true black, a luxurious soft handling fleece, excellent brightness and colour uniformity, and low guard hair coupled with longevity of fineness. He has great coverage, good density and a high frequency crimp style which is uniform over his body. It is a testament to the quality of this male that he passed BAS Screening at his age.

A compact male, Geronimo stands very proud and. He has excellent density of bone on a well balanced frame which is of correct proportion and with a strong top line. He has a broad true to type head with good fleece coverage.

Geronimo’s sire is Canchones Ferragamo ET.  Ferragamo ET is out of the outstanding female Canchones Kenzoki and sired by Canchones Gendarme. Black breeders around the world will be very familiar with these two Australian game changers, originally imported from Peru. Their influence on the black Australian Alpaca Industry has been significant.

Geronimo’s dam is Chelamar Gypsy Lass whose pedigree is just as impressive. Her sire is Bonnie Park Wizard, whose fleece is described as very fine with a tight well defined crimp, good density and great brightness. His 12th fleece statistics remained impressive. Bonnie Park Wizard is sired by Parnabrae Zeus, a black NWA Ruffo (USA) son, out of Coonawarra Winona. Winona is a daughter of Coonawarra Julius, another big name in Australia within black breeding. Julius also sired the well renowned Coonawarra Dorchester and Elvis Presley. Gypsy Lass carries 100% black genetics on her dams side.

Geronimo is charming! A true gentleman, he loves posing for photos and has a friendly, good natured temperament (he can be a bit cheeky too 😉 ) and we look forward to working with him and his progeny over the coming years.
